(Continuation of "When Did I Get a Sister Story)

It never occurred to me that when I asked Sarah and Father to move in that my house would become smaller. I am just happy that I have got Mother's room. I love Sarah and we have great times together but other times, like when I want to be alone all the rooms seem occupied. Then there is also the fact that Sarah does not even want to live here. She was thinking way too hard that day, I almost fell to my knees she was thinking so hard, it was about the fact no one asked her where she wanted to live. Once she saw me on the floor, she knew what had happened and ran out the door. We have not talked about it yet.

Grey walked into the room and asked where Sarah was, it seems we were all going to Fayre to hear about what was going on at the Castle, besides for the reigning King's Birthday Gala and other Festivities. Grey found Sarah in the kitchen then we packed a small picnic lunch and were on our way. That is when Sarah tried to catch my eye and I ignored her. All of the sudden Grey said "You two better get what ever is wrong with you fixed, and I mean it before you two get to Fayre so sit down and eat lunch I expect to see both of you as soon as you are DONE."

Sarah and I sat down with the picnic basket between us. I started to apologize to Sarah, "I am so sorry to have spoiled your life. Especially now when the King's Gala is going on, there are bound to be wonders you have never seen before came to live with me. I feel so guilty for ruining your life and I never knew anything like this would happen it is not like the King has thrown a Gala before. So Sarah dear sister know I mean no ill will when I tell you to Go Home. I will talk to Grey and see if it is okay for me to stay with Typhany's family, and he could come and check on me if he feels the need. After all you have been daughter longer than I have and I am pretty sure I could take care of myself with Typh's help". Immediately Sarah was on her feet "Listen to me Albie and listen good. Everybody is allowed to have a bad day, I am sorry you were passing when I was having those feelings you should know I would never do anything to hurt you. You are also a little right, I lived in that village all those years for nothing to happen I haven't lived with you a week and look what happens".

"Could be worse" I said looking out the corner of my eye for any sign that she was listening "it could be the King and Queen of Ogres coming to town and it is the Queen who sports the longest beard". Sarah looked at me skeptically and asked "How do you know that about their King and Queen?" I told her that Iris informed me the next time they arrive we should really meet them. "They serve a huge pot stew in their honor, they always kill the fattest Rabbits. She says..." Sarah was on her knees laughing, when I thought about it I started to laugh as well. We will never forget the day and way we learned some of our powers. As I was pointing at an innocent rabbit Sarah saw and pointed at the same time, we both try to think poor bunny but it is just too funny never seen anything fly as high as that head, and yes at times I still feel guilty but neither one of us saw that coming. I mean it is not like we go around popping heads off cute bunnies on purpose. I looked at Sarah with tears in my eyes.

"I'll try to live in your house by the Castle at least for a while then we can come back here" but the look in Sarah's eyes said it would not happen that way. "Albie our mother and father separated us for a reason. Remember if wasn't for Auntie McCassar we would have known about our magic and now with our Mother dead we will have to figure some of our magic skills out ourselves. The other thing is we still do not know where she went or if she was working alone or with a group of really bad people". The look on Albie's face was fierce, "I know that woman and will never forget what she smelled like, you can try to hide smells but I hugged her too many times not to remember that odor".

Sarah took Albies hand to calm her down. "I am sorry Albie and know that I am not mad at you, well to be honest a little but I will get over it and you have had to make more changes than either father or myself. I am almost embarrassed that it has gone this far" and with that Albie tackled Sarah and they gave each  other a hug that neither would ever forget the rest of their lives. When they finally opened the picnic basket all they found was a note from there father that said "Glad you girls have made up. NOW get you butts to Fayre something is going on and we all must hear about it at once. We started running when Sarah picked me up by the collar and just about flew me to Fayre.

Outside were two of the biggest men we had ever seen in our lives standing guard outside the doors at Fayre and Father was nowhere in sight. I hadn't a clue what to do so I just followed Sarah as she walked up to one huge obstructions. "Hello" said Sarah "by any chance have you seen my father Grey Thrush"? The big man looked down at Sarah and smiled what would have been a nice smile if he had some front teeth. I guess we had a strange look on our face because he said "I fell outta tree when I was younger", the other guard was laughing so hard he obviously thought us no threat. "You see he doesn't wear his falsies when he's on Duty, he thinks it makes him look scarier". Sarah clamped onto my hand and said "I am sure you look charming with your teeth in" and with that comment the guard could not help himself but smile again. We must have looked more scared than I thought because the other guard seemed to laugh harder as we entered Fayre.

When we entered Fayre there were so many sized guards and some people that looked like royalty and others that look like they worked in magic all talking at once. As soon as Sarah and I entered the room Grey came up to us in a rush asking what took so long. We explained things were better now between the two of us and that now we were both starving. He looked at us exasperated "I don't understand out of all the things your inherited from your mother is that fighting makes you hungry, I should  be glad you got here today and took the empty picnic basket". Then he patted us both on the butt into the middle of the room, he got everyone's attention and announced rather proudly "Ladies and Gentlemen and all the others that have showed up today I will later introduce them to you personally but for now please meet my lovely daughters Sarah and Albie.

With that introduction we were rushed by the Magicians and Sorceress and other magical beings I had never seen before. "It's seems so strange that the Kingdom would have any kind of Gala for the King after all these years. I cannot help but feel that it is a set up of some kind". This was said by a woman dressed in flowing satin and by flowing I mean moving into shapes at times, obviously magical but very pretty and I did not notice anything around me til Sarah took my hand. Then at once we could read the woman's mind she was not impressed with me. "I'm not too impressed with you either" and I turned my back on her so I would not see her outfit.

"How did you read my mind little one? I was standing right here reading your miserable thoughts, when I was disrupted and you were closed off to me". She did not notice Sarah had taken my hand and for now that was a good thing. I looked up at Sarah and thought that we should not split up and also to hold hands more often so people would not catch on to what we were doing. Sarah smiled a big smile back at me and took my hand. Then loud enough for others to hear but not real loud "I don't think I will ever let you go, or even out of my sight for a long time my sister dear" then she picked up my hand and squeezed it hard.

Then in walked the littlest guard either of us had ever seen and I am sure Sarah had seen more but there seemed a change in people's demeanor. I wondered what was so special about this guard who was just as big as me and not treated the way I expect a Guard to be treated. Grey came up behind us and said "That is our Liaison to the Castle everyone will try to get her ear". I could not help myself and started laughing at the thought of people trying to take her ear away, when she noticed me, oops so much for not being noticed. She said in a loud voice that was more bravado than threatening "and what do you find so funny"? I looked at her and said the truth what Sarah had said and the picture it brought to my mind made me laugh. "I did not mean to be rude" and that is when I realized I did not know the name of the person in front of me "my apologies again but I do not know your name". She did not seem to be mad at this fact she just looked at me and said "My name is Maali and your name is"? "My name is Ablie and this is my sister Sarah it is very nice to meet you, I hope we have time to talk later". I said and as I turned I noticed everyone was staring at us. "Don't worry about the stares" said Maali "it happens to me wherever I go and I have been informed I will probably be stared at even after death people will still come and stare at my grave". She said it so casually I almost felt her sadness at this thought. I could feel the melancholy  the heavy load on her. "It is okay I will serve just as I am told and guarding you two seems to be top on the list, I know you met Roue and Dolph on the way in and right now I am Maali" with that she made a slight bow of her head. I started wondering why we were being escorted by the Kings Guards. I also wondered about the little soldier and her name for "now".

After Typhany's mother Anna had gotten all the seats she could find into the Shoppe and all people had had some sort of snack at least so as not to be hungry. Then the meeting began and it was unlike any meeting I had ever been to before. The woman with the interesting clothing was named Madam Bleugh Skye if we had to call her anything which she said with a sternness that meant she did not want to be called it was Bleugh, we just say her name loud enough and she will hear it in the wind. That only sounded a little creepy but nice to know she could hear us if we needed her for any reason. Then we went around the room introducing ourselves but no one was explaining what was going on and why did WE need to have any kind of Guard and that little one was very serious about her duty. Roue and Dolph spent most of their time outside doing their job but I saw Sarah sneak out with cake for them when I was on my way out with so I followed with milk.

After everyone had finished eating and introducing themselves then eating a little more while discussing the best and fastest way through the forest to the Castle. The only thing we had to avoid was Ogres, Harpies and Crocodiles. I almost forgot the occasional Troll and some pretty big bugs. "I wouldn't worry too much about the bugs we have enough provisions to have to eat any of them" I said trying to prove I was ready for this adventure. Typhany just looked at me in horror. "I am not eating any bugs, I will take out one of my dresses and put in another loaf of bread and some jam". I looked at Typh "Sorry my friend I was just joking around, I promise you will not have to eat any bugs". She looked at me and shook her head in agreement, I think everyone knew she was excited to be going to this Gala.

With everyone talking around us, about us and over us Sarah and I got the impression we were not being told everything and we did not even have to hold hands for this mind flash. That's when I squeezed Sarah's hand real hard and thought "Make the fire bigger in the fireplace" and with that one thought a loud whooshing noise came out of the fireplace scorching the top of Fayre but not burning everything. All the people just stopped and stared at us, all except for Maali she just looked at us like we had just made the biggest magic ever. "Now that we have your attention Sarah and I would like to know what the heck is going on and if you do not tell us we will not take part in what ever scheme you folks are thinking of doing" and with that Sarah and I walked into the back stockroom and locked the door. "Thank you I was getting such a headache from all those people" I said. "That and there black hearts Sarah I swear at times I could hardly breath. I am so very glad we kept holding hands or I don't know what would have happened to us".  I thought for a moment "Okay if it means we hold hands all the way to the Castle we'll do it but we will also investigate what are new companions are up to as well".

"Ahem" I swung around as fast as I could only too see our little guard sitting on a stool by the special bottles. "Okay what is the deal with you Maali for now"? Her lower lip started to quiver and I knew I had screwed up what ever she was going to say. "Oh Maali I am so sorry I did not mean that the way it sounded and plus it was really rude forgive me". That is when Maali looked up at us and smiled as she wiped a tear away from her cheek. She got up to unlock the door "I knew you two would be nice that's why I volunteered for this mission but my parents wanted no one to know what my real name is and you two definitely don't seem to know who I am". Do you want us to know your real name"? I asked wearily not knowing what was going to come out of her mouth next. "Sure my real name is..." and with that Rue opened the door and picked Maali off the floor. He then informed her it was her time to guard the door. He looked at us and made a little bow then looked back to Maali and said "Mister Thrush wants everyone to eat and drink then do what ever else they have to be done to travel in less than two hours. That will leave us with an overnight stay and we will all reach the Castle together as long as everyone pays attention" and this time when he smiled menacingly I knew he meant it and squeezed Sarah's hand. "We are going to stay on his good side every time he is near" she thought I just stood there looking stupid nodding my head. I kept running through my mind what had happened already this day and came to the decision that eating sounded really good. I let go of Sarah's hand for the moment and told her I was going to get some waffles with chocolate syrup, from the look on her face you'd think she never ate one before only to find out she's never had a waffle. After we were done eating we started packing like everyone else for our journey to the Castle that felt more dangerous than fun.

It was really nice of Typh's mom to let us borrow some of her warmer clothes for the over night stay. We had not thought anything about it, actually this morning was a long time ago and I felt more like going to sleep than on a hike. It was probably the extra syrup on my waffle making me feel this way, it was just strange for me not to feel more excited. "Yes" I heard in a whisper in my mind, uh oh I thought and then kept my mind on walking. Somebody here was trying to read my mind and that does not seem like a good way to start a trip with new friends. I will have to tell Sarah about this and make sure she keeps her guard up as well.

The guards were being really good at trying not to leave too much of a new path behind us, but it was obvious they were taking the most direct route. It was nice when we were all quiet on the walk you could hear the wild life. Every now and then you could hear the most beautiful sounding bird. Once I looked at Grey to see if he was the one making the bird call, but he just kept walking and looking around like everyone else.

Rue and Dolph took lead one would chop something out of the way while the other always seemed to be doing their job. Maalie too was on guard know as well bringing up the rear. That sword was one of the reasons I did not mind Maali walking behind me because to handle a sword like that one she must be very talented especially at such a young age. I also noticed that Grey seemed to have some ready to use poultices. You just have to add water or dirt then apply poultice to infected area, as I was walking and looking into other peoples rucksacks, baggage whatever I could see peeking through the mesh or poking out of the baggage I started to feel a little out of place and thought about offering to help one of the others when Sarah came and took my hand she had a grin on her face and just as we were about to start our conversation, I could tell it was something really juicy by the look on her face and then she pointed and screamed. I turned to look where she was pointing when I saw a bunny's head above the trees, I took Sarah's hand and thought "Oh Sarah do you think it could be the same bunny?" I had to look at her because she was just nodding her head and the next thing I knew she was running towards the head holding onto my hand. I could hear Grey in the background "Girls where do you think you are going? Hey little guard what are you doing? Okay does anybody know what on Mother Nature's green grass is going on? I could hear no one answering Grey's question and felt a little bad, but I did not have a choice either Sarah still had my hand and it felt like we were flying.

While we were chasing after the bunny head the little guard chased after us yelling at us to slow down, at least that's what I think got the bunny's attention because the next thing we saw was a bunny head bouncing up over the trees and down low enough that the head completely disappeared. Sarah and I just stopped and stared at the wonder of the fact that the head had not popped off at all it had just become really long. With the way the bunny head was weaving in and out of trees we could tell he knew this territory well. Then his bunny head went down and both Sarah and I lost track of the bouncing head. Out of breath and desperately needing a drink I reached into my bag and pulled out some water when I heard a hacking cough coming from behind me that wound up coming from the littlest guard called Maali. "I have been told to guard you with my life" she said and took a sip of water "little did I know it would be so soon. I also notice the floating bunny head but saw no reason to chase after the balloon. Now I have to figure out how to get us out of this danger". Well it seems once little Maali caught her breath she really seemed like a guard in training.

"Okay" Sarah said "where is your compass"? Maali gave her a peculiar look and said nothing. Sarah grabbed my hand and thought "That's what I was going to talk to you about until I saw that darn bouncing bunny head". I just looked at Sarah and thought "That sentence makes no sense". "Quit thinking, I was trying to catch my breath it felt like I was running for two" well that even shut my thinking up, I felt a little bad but she could have thought it nicer. So Sarah continued thinking "That little guard carries nothing but a sword and some water, nothing like the other guards were carrying something is wrong with our little guard with the very pointy sword". "Sarah how do you know the sword is pointy"? and that was when I felt a little tap on my back, only to turn around and have Maali point her sword at both of us. Unfortunately she was not as brave as she would have liked us to believe because the pointy sword was also shaking in her grasp. "Okay you two I do not know what you are doing or why you needed a special escort but I can tell by the looks on your faces you are planning something. Then as quick as a flash Maali was on the ground and Tiger Lilley was holding her sword.

Uh oh both Sarah and I thought. I walked up to Tiger and took the sword away, Sarah went to Maali to pick her up and Tiger looked absolutely miserable. I had to ask "Tiger Lilley what are you doing"? She looked up at me defensively and said "I thought I was saving my two friends from being taken prisoner by a Guard, and a darn little guard at that now that I see her. If I would have known she was in training I would not have interfered with the magic you two possess you could take care of yourselves easily. Now why are you running through the woods with this little guard"? I looked at Tiger speechless how do you explain this and the next thing I knew I could hear Sarah saying "We were both startled by a floating bunny head and I thought I could catch it and bring it to the Gala".

Tiger got a grin on her face and said "That was no balloon it was a rabbit and I am going to catch him for our dinner tonight. Mother and Father will be so proud. My only problem in tracking this rabbit is that the paws are not very big for such a tall hare, but they would make a great stew. I also think of the luck those suckers could bring me. Heck I might even sell one or two. How much luck do I nee?". We were never going to be able to explain to Tiger about the bunny so we just kept our mouths shut for once. That is when I heard Rue coming up behind us saying things that even the small guard should not hear. "What's your problem Maali that you cannot handle these two"? When Maali swung around to look at the guard it looked as though Rue were blushing. Then Maali said "These two took off before anyone noticed and considering I was running while they were using magic I think I did okay. Do you not agree with that assessment Rue"? He backed up a few steps, cleared his throat and answered in a softer voice "Sorry Maali none of us realized they were going to run let alone use magic. For being in training you did a good job". There was just something wrong with this conversation but then we heard Grey yelling for us in the background and all agreed it was best to get back to the rest of the Caravan. When we all finally got together Grey was surprised to see that Tiger had joined us.

As we were walking we explained to Grey about the balloon/bunny. Tiger said if she was going to join us she better head to her Den and tell her family (which was huge). Considering I did not remember anyone asking her I too just stood their dumbfounded like everyone else. She yelled back at us as she was running away that she would make sure to bring her own provisions and money. That was the last anyone saw of her for quite a while. I could have sworn when we turned around to join the group I heard the bird calling again, it seemed to be whistling something familiar to me. It seemed to stay with us almost all the way back to our group. No one said a word.

When we returned everyone was giving us dirty looks. Madam Skye was the first to voice her opinion, "Considering these LITTLE ONES have delayed us with their antics I think it best that we just stay here for the night". Rue piped up "Not right now but in a little bit, the girls have cost us time so we have to find a better clearing to camp". All the people looked at us, so we just followed behind the group not saying anything. Grey gave us both a little slap on the back of our heads and gave a slight laugh. "Don't you love adults? They are all going to the same Gala but none of them seem as excited as us". Then he picked up his pace a little. "He's right Sarah, bunny or not this is going to be fun. We have just got to figure out who is using Black Magic around us and things would be perfect". Sarah looked at me and thought "Oh Albie, how do you always look on the sunny side of life"? "That's funny considering you were the one born in light of day'. She stuck her tongue out at me "Very mature and helpful I thought". Just then I heard that lovely bird whistling in agreement, I have got to catch a look of that birdie. For some reason though I did feel happier. I was going to have to tell Sarah about this and see if she was having the same reaction.

We walked on for a while and I would look at Maali once in a while. She might not be the fiercest guard but she definitely was taking her role seriously in making sure nothing was going to sneak up behind us. Of course just as I was thinking this Tiger came in with a Roar that scared the heck out most of the people but not the guards. Not even Maali she pulled her sword out so smoothly and had it almost at Tigers throat before anyone could say a word. "Nice greeting" Tiger said to Maali "this is what I get for letting you know I was coming? I should have just waited for you to make camp and then I would have sneaked into camp with no one noticing". The look on the guards faces was one of total confusion. "Maali did you forget I was coming back to join in this adventure"? She shook her head no and seem to come to her senses faster than the others. "No I just thought you would be longer that is all. You must be very fast". Tiger looked at her skeptically "Of course I am fast I am part Tiger that is how I got my name". Then she looked at Sarah and I and thought "The little one is crazier than you two".

I just smiled and decided to keep walking and filling Tiger on what little had happened since she left us. "So let me get this straight, because we chased after that bunny everyone has to make camp early"? I nodded and said "It seems they either love us or hate us. We also get the sense that somebody really hates us because Sarah and I can almost feel it when we are in the group". Tiger got a peculiar look on her face and said "I will have to talk to an old acquaintance pf my Den and see if she knows anything that is going on. Considering your party is making camp for the night I should take this opportunity to consult with her. Would either of you care to join me"? I looked over my shoulder at Sarah and she shook her head no, I knew she was right but I would really like to meet Tiger's mysterious friend. Tiger laughed and was off in a flash again, she definitely had energy and speed when needed.

As we were starting to make camp I saw a Lilac Bush in bloom and could not help but go to it and pick some of the flowers in memory of my Mother. When I also started to smell that odor that reminded me of my Aunt. Then the bush started changing before my eyes and suddenly it was Madam Bleugh and casting some kind of spell on me. I did not feel good nor could I speak, I just heard Sarah shriek when out of nowhere came a hairy black snake that envelope the evil woman. No it wasn't a snake it was a neck a really long neck and on top was the smiling face of a very happy bunny. Madam Bleugh was caught so off guard that she faltered on her spell as she screamed. Then just as fast as the bunny was there he was gone again. That was still a very fast bunny.

Rue and Maali were the first to come to my rescue. Madam Bleugh on the other hand was pulling something out of a hidden pocket. Your Aunt and I are only two of the Minions looking for you girls and you will not always have the King's Guards to protect you. With that she threw a vial on the dirt and disappeared. Now for some reason I thought it would have been funner to have gone with Tiger. Sarah must have read my thoughts because I heard her giggle and saw her nod her head. I had to tell Sarah about the bunny as well. I had the feeling that it was going to be a long night.

Grey came rushing up to me giving me a hug and turning me around. He was asking if I was okay and how I did not have to do anything else that night. I was just to sit and get some rest, the others could take care of the rest. I looked at Grey and our dwindling party and told him I was fine. I told him that I was going to go with Sarah and Rue to collect firewood. With the two of us collecting wood and Rue carrying we should have easily have enough wood to last the entire night. Grey looked at me skeptically and then he finally agreed that the extra hands were needed. Typh and her mom gave me hugs and checked me out as well before we could go and collect some wood.

When we got back a small fire had already been started with some of the dry wood and kindling that was found around where we had made camp. So after putting the wood down Dolph came over and grabbed a few smaller pieces and put them on the fire as soon as they caught he added a few of the larger logs. Then we looked in our bags and pulled out the extra fruit, cheese and bread that we had not eaten on the walk. Dolph however proved to be a clever guard he got out a pot and put some water in it then he pulled some beef jerky out of his bag and added it to the pot. Next thing I knew there were a couple potatoes going into the pot, he was making stew. He looked up at me and said "You never know when you are not going to make your destination. So I carry things that are light and can be used in different ways if I ever get delayed. Usually I bring more than this but then again usually I am on a horse". Then he got a look on his face like he had just done something wrong and returned his attention to his stew. Maali came up behind us doing a little cough so as not to scare us. She cleared her throat and said in a whisper "Dolph does not like too many people knowing about his knowing how to cook. It is not that he thinks he is bragging but is embarrassed by the fact that a King's Guard can cook so well. Honestly it makes me happy on the few over night journeys I have been on during my training.

I was trying to relax for just a couple of minutes when I heard the bird whistling again. Once again I found it relaxing until Dolph bellowed that he had made something to eat for anybody who might be interested. It almost sounded as if the bird laughed in its song hearing this news. I got up and wandered over to the fire and where the rest of the group had gathered with plates in their hands. I also got a look at Dolph's make shift table and some how he had created something green and with herbs. There was also some bread and cheese along with what wound up being a very tasty stew. When I complimented Dolph on this conquest he turned red and told me the secret was in the herbs, salts and liquids they used to jerk the meat. "Every meat has a different flavor that way we have a choice when we are on a journey. You have to understand that this meat is the only thing that could stand in the way of you eating one night or not. Other things go bad but if you protect your meat then it should last the journey". For some reason I thought those very wise words and could be taken in several different way. I was on my way to see Sarah to share my new found information. That is when I heard the bird whistle almost in agreement. Once again making me feel better in making this decision, I tried to whistle my contentment but failed miserably. Then once again thought I heard bird laughter, now I knew I this could not be a coincidence. I was keeping my eyes open for a laughing bird on this journey now as well.

I had so many things to tell Sarah that when I finally caught up with her it all came tumbling out of my mouth at once. Sarah looked at me and then a couple of seconds later said "Let me get this straight. There is a bird out there that has been jerking you around so Dolph is cooking it for supper? I am sorry but this does not sound right even to me, Dolph would not kill a bird for supper when we know we have enough food".

"NO" I yelled whispered to Sarah, "there is a bird that has been following us. At first I just thought it was a flock of birds but I usually only hear one especially when it is laughing". Sarah looked at me skeptically and then started to snicker. She was really doing a terrible job of keeping this talk a secret, I might as well have been talking to her in my head. I thought of a big frowning face and Sarah stopped and wiped a tear that had somehow managed to escape. "Okay Albie tell me about this bird that seems to be following us". I better be careful how I looked at my sister because if I have learned anything from the past I could blow something off of her and right now I was thinking brain.

Just then the bird started singing again and as I took a deep breath I felt myself calm down a lot. "Listen Sarah the bird is singing right now" I whispered. Sarah leaned into the wind and said "Oh my gosh Albie how can you hear that it is so far away. If you had not mentioned it I would never had heard it, but it does seem to be coming closer and sounds familiar to me as well" she ended with a smile. I reached out to touch her hand at the same time thinking of the tune the bird was singing. "Wow Albie that Bird is wonderful, what a merry tune she sings. Why I almost feel like dancing, this definitely feels like some kind of magic. Albie! You found a magical bird but what is really getting on my nerves is where I would have heard that tune before. I know I have heard it but it never had this affect on me before". I nodded my head in agreement knowing that she would remember this feeling if it had happened to her before.

"Why not" I said " considering the snake was really a bunny's neck. Why would I not find a magical bird in this huge Forest? I looked around it was usually at times like these when the earth opened and swallowed me whole or a root wraps around my foot and trips me. Everyone thinks I am a klutz but I know some of these things have happened to me a lot. It has been happening even when mom was alive she told me to be careful of my green feet. I always thought she was joking, now I am really starting to wonder if she was giving me some kind of hint.

Sarah was looking at me like I had just fallen out of a tree, which she had actually seen me do one day. "What"? I said Oh, right I forgot about telling you about the bunny. We did not blow his head off we blew him up. I do not know how but he has grown strangely into his body and decided to rescue us today. I swear Sarah he almost seemed happy to see me. I don't know if he recognized me or not but he was so cute even though he was so very tall. His feet are not huge I noticed that but I cannot believe the speed at which he moved". I looked over at Sarah and there was Tiger sitting there as well. "You forgot to introduce yourself to him, his name is Murphy. I told him the next time you seem him, you'd properly introduce yourselves. He really doesn't mind being the size he is, he is just wondering what is going to happen when he wants to find love". Tiger raised her eyebrows at us.

"How do you know the bunny's name is Murphy? Oh and what makes you think we had anything to do with his size"? Tiger looked at us like we were both just plain stupid. "Who do you think taught Murphy not to get caught? It was my Den that took that poor Bunny in after you made him huge and for no reason. I think that is why my Den took pity on him instead of eating him that first night. He did not even put up a fight, it is just not any fun if the food comes so willingly to you. So we taught him how to run and avoid trees, as well as track down other scents so we can find others if they get lost". That last statement Tiger had said she a hard time looking us in the eyes. So we took it for granted that Tiger had taught Murphy how to hunt as well. I was not going to judge her considering we were the ones who created the new life for Murphy who is now no longer to be referred to as poor bunny.

It was clear that we were out of our element when we were left alone in the Forest. "Tiger you have to understand" and that is all I was able to say because Grey was walking up to us with Maali on his tail. "Come on girls, supper is ready and nobody is waiting on the two of you so you both better hurry up". Wow had that much time really gone by that they were able to get a whole meal together while we talked about a magical bird and one big bunny. All of us started off at a great pace not knowing how much Rue and Dolph would be able to eat at one time after the day we have all had. When we arrived there was still plenty of food and I swear that Dolph even blushed a little when he got so many compliments on his last minute stew. It all tasted really good and now that Madam Bleugh was gone the air even seemed lighter. That is when I heard the bird again and it seemed to be whistling in agreement with what I thought. I was so busy listening to the bird that I did not even realize that Grey was whistling along with the bird. That could only mean one thing and that was Grey could hear the bird as well, another thing I was learning about my father. He was not the simple man he had led me on to believe, if he could hear the bird he had magic in himself.

He caught me looking at him and smiled back at me and nodded all the while still whistling this happy tune. "Albie doesn't that sound like the... ouch" I had kicked her under the table and thought don't mention the bird. Grey looked at Sarah and asked "Sound like what Sarah"? What a smart thinking sister I have to admit she said "It sounds like a tune Albie was humming earlier, she said her mom would hum it to her sometimes at night". The whole thing was as soon as she said it I knew it was the truth, that was why the tune sounded so familiar my mom did hum that tune to me. I sent the same message to Sarah and I think she almost cried. "Okay" Anna said to Typhany "why don't we clean up considering everyone else seems to have done the rest of the work". So with those two cleaning up Sarah and I went to make camp. We went to the fire now that we were done eating and started setting up places for people to sleep for the night. I noticed a pretty big shadow at one point and figured it was Murphy checking on either Tiger or us.

Before the sunset Grey walked up to me and said to Sarah "Excuse us for just a second Sarah, I have a place I want to show to Albie it just seems important for Albie to see ". Sarah looked fascinated if anything, you could tell she was not jealous in one bit. You would almost think she was happy I was spending time with Grey. As I was thinking this and following Grey I noticed that the bird had started singing, I knew it was the same bird but it was a different tune and still made me happy. That is when Grey pulled the limb of a tree back and showed me the cutest birds I had ever seen in my life. She lived in a lush green meadow with the softest looking grass and a fresh water Spring. As I was taking all the beautiful scenery in, Grey smiled and whistled something back and the bird began to sing a merry tune that seemed to be special just for us. Grey put the branch back and said "Not too many people can hear this special bird sing. This bird is called an Abbygale and spreads joy and good luck to those who hear its song. It was obvious at the dinner table that you had been hearing her as well on our journey". I looked at Grey "Can I have another peak at the bird do you think"? The answer came in the form of song that I took meant it was okay for me to peak.

"What a lovely bird its tail was different shades of red and the tail feathers were so very long", I whispered. At times it seemed to blend into the tree it was living in. Then I noticed her head all nice a fluffy feathers of green and brown that once again seemed to almost camouflage itself into the tree. "How does she do that Grey? They way she blends into the Forest you really cannot see her at times". I was just amazed at how beautiful one bird could be. I would love to be able to describe her body as well but the colour changes made it impossible for me. "Sarah has got to see this because I will never be able to describe this properly. She will have to read my mind to understand this Abbygale" and I smiled. I could not tell if it was a fat bird with a fluffy head or a skinny bird with a fluffy head, no matter how I looked at it though I knew the bird was beautiful. I knew I would never forget the day I met Abbygale because when she looked me in the eye I knew we would be seeing a lot more of each other. Then with a nod of her head our way she disappeared but I knew she was still there for she sang such a happy tune for Grey and I.

When we got far enough away I said "You have got to take Sarah to see that Abbygale. I have never seen anything like it in my life. How can one Bird be so many things"? then I looked down and saw that I had been dancing on air. With a very ungraceful plop I fell back to the ground. Grey was just looking at me lying on the ground with a dumbfounded look on his face. I took it to mean that he was not surprised at my clumsiness when he said. "You saw Abbygale"? I nodded my head yes "Grey she was right in front of us at times and if birds could smile I swear she smiled at us before we left. I know you must not be as impressed seeing her again"... that is when Grey stopped me and said "Albie I have never seen her, I only by chance ran across where she lived by hearing her sing one day when she was younger. She quit singing but when I imitated her song back it was like we were having a conversation but she has never shown herself to me". I had no idea what to say, I mean I had just danced on air and got to see not any bird but Abbygale and my father never has. "You know Grey that does not mean you do not have magic in you, if you think about it YOU do hear the song of the Abbygale and Sarah only heard it when next to me or holding my hand". For some reason that seem to cheer him up, I could tell because his step had a little bounce in it as he walked with me.

When we got back we pulled Sarah to the side and explained as best as we could about what had happened. She seemed fascinated and bummed at the same time. I guess I could understand, after all I got to see Abbygale and not even Grey had been able to see her. Even though she was so very close I could see her eyes dilate at her last nod at us poor Grey saw nothing. So when I described everything I tried to picture it in my head the best I could and could start to feel Sarah smile. I looked at Grey only to notice his eyes were closed. Then he suddenly opened them "How did you do that? How did you just recreate that moment in my head? I still could not see Abbygale but everything else was just like a moving picture". Sarah looked at me and with a sad smile said "I am happy for you Albie you have seen a marvelous Bird and learned to fly in the same day".

Now I did not need to be hit by Tiger to not to notice that Sarah did not really seem happy nor would she look at me in my eyes when she started talking again. "Grey there is really no reason for you to take to a place that I will not be able to enjoy as much as Albie. I will not see or hear the Abbygale so there is no use in us taking that walk. Why don't we just go to bed instead and get a fresh start tomorrow". After she spoke those words she turned her back towards me but I know I saw a tear roll down her cheek. I felt terrible and had no idea how to help Sarah, so I did what I thought would be best and took her by the hand and thought of Abbygale's Song. The sides of Sarah's mouth lifted and she said "Father is it okay if Albie and I go to see if Abbygale is still there? We will take Tiger with us she knows the Forest better than anyone in this party and I promise we will come directly back. If something were to happen Tiger could be here faster than anyone else". It must have been the look on her face because he agreed readily, Maali interrupted saying she would be following as well. The look on her face said it all as well and we would rather have Maali than Rue or Dolph.

So off we went at a great speed because we HAD to get back before the sun went down. On the way I tried to explain to Maali and Tiger about Abbygale. Tiger could hardly contain her excitement and at first I was worried until Tiger said. "I cannot believe that I know somebody who has actually seen Abbygale. My family always knew she existed because a few had heard her song, but to know someone who has not only heard the song but seen the Bird is exciting. When we got far enough away I slowed our pace down a little, "Listen Sarah I did not mean to see that Abbygale or dance on air. I have to tell you there was a big difference between dancing on air and floating, the landing on floating has always been more gentle on my body". Then I showed Sarah the big bruise I had on my hip. Tiger had to take a look as well and said "Can you go anywhere without hurting yourself or does that come with your magic as well"? Sarah and I looked at each other neither one of us had thought my clumsiness to be magical, it was too painful at times but I had stumbled across some pretty amazing things. "Tiger" I said "you might be on to something there, it does seem that every time I find something new I get hurt somehow. Sarah we are going to have to learn how to protect me before I kill myself getting to the Gala". Sarah nodded and looked at me with that light in her eyes that made me feel so much better.

"You know it is getting dark and we should really get back to camp Albie" Sarah had said and then we all heard a Birdsong in agreement. The look on Tiger's face was priceless and the look on Sarah's face was like she was learning some kind of lesson. She seem to pay attention so very hard to the song then she took my hand and thought "Abbygale says she approves of me and I too will be able to hear her song from now on". I was so happy for Sarah I did not point out that she would probably never be able to see her, that seemed just mean. Then for the last time that night I hear Abbygale say in Birdsong that I had done the right thing by keeping my mouth shut this time.

Getting up the next morning everyone seemed in a very good mood and I knew that Abbygale had been working her magic during the night. I had some great dreams and all of them seem to follow they rhythm of a melody. I had ever air danced around Murphy's neck and knew in my heart that he had forgiven Sarah and I for blowing him up in size. Which is better that popping his head completely off, I guess. Back to the camp with a breakfast of warmed bread, cheese and fruit and something brown all the older people were drinking. It was hard to tell if they were enjoying the drink because a couple of them hid their face after they took a drink. Grey sat down along side of us giving us some kind of juice to drink and said "That Rue surely knows how to make a fine cup of coffee, it is too bad Anna cannot admit that she just does not like the stuff and have some juice instead". We just nodded our heads in agreement thinking it best considering our mouths were full at the time. After we were all done there was a quick clean up and this time we made sure that it looked like no one had ever even been there.

Rue came up to Sarah and I and said "I have to tell you young ladies that it has really been a privilege escorting you two. I do have to tell however that I do not believe that Bleugh woman has given up and wish you two would stay directly in the middle of the party. Stay with your friends and do everything Maali tells you to do. Do you both understand"? We both nodded surprised at the eloquent way he had spoken. "Now I know Tiger is a fighter, I am not sure about Typhany but she does carry a lot of potions with her at all times. So if anything happens run towards where you went yesterday, that way you can be rescued or hide especially if you smell that smell Albie". Gosh I was so impressed than I wanted to slap my head this was a King's Guard talking to me, not some run of the mill person. Just before leaving he gave Sarah and I each a little knife and told us not to tell anyone about them not even Grey or Tiger. We were to hide them on our body in case of emergency and try our hardest not to get separated. Then he bent over and kissed us on the head and muttered something like "didn't really think I'd grow to like them so much" and then a little sniff. We let Rue walk away while waving to him just like we were saying good bye and not hiding little knives on our bodies.

With everything packed and all of us lined up we started on our way to the Gala. I could hear Grey whistling a birdsong and every now and then he would throw in a little of an Abbygale song. We had been walking for over an hour when I thought the sky had gotten cloudy, that is until I noticed the bunny ears on the cloud and had to smile to myself. Tiger was talking a mile a minute about all the fun we were going to have at the Gala and Typh and her mom were talking about how they also had to get some new stock and provisions for The Shoppe. The weather was beautiful and the wind nice enough to keep a person cool but not to  wear a cape. We were just talking about whether or not we should stop for lunch when I heard a strange song and knew it had come from Abbygale. Grey could tell by the look on my face that something had happened and came to me immediately. I grabbed him by the collar and told him what I had felt. His face went ashen "Albie do you think McCassar has anything to do with this"? I shook my head yes "She would know the song because mom use to hum it to me, she would also have investigated where it came from considering she knew how happy it made mom and me. Grey I have to do something to save that Bird".

I turned and faced Sarah, "It is up to you sweet sister Sarah. How would you like to go on a journey with me to rescue a Bird you cannot even see? I know I am asking"...oomph Sarah had me a big hug and had pulled me off the ground. Then I noticed Tiger standing next to her and Maali coming towards me with weapons in one hand and food in the other. I looked over my shoulder at Typhany who seemed on the verge of tears. "I am so sorry I cannot be of any help Albie. We will try to get to the Castle faster but I fear that is all the help I can give". She sniffed back a little choke. "Everyone has to help with this Typh. Do you know how many people and creatures rely on Abbygale's Song? This is not the time to be silent, now is the time to yell. Call out Abbygale's name let her know we are looking for her and also make sure every living thing knows that someone is trying to harm this Forest's most valuable asset". I gave Typh a quick hug and kiss on the cheek for luck. Luck was something I seem to be running short on today, how could we ever get to that part of the Forest before McCassar hurt that beautiful Bird. "I have no idea" Sarah thought.

For some reason that startled me and as I looked up at her there was our new found bunny friend Murphy. After Tiger and Murphy had talked for a little bit Tiger came back to tell us that we were going to be tied to Murphy's back while Tiger ran herself to our destination. It seems that I was not the only one hearing Abbygales songs of distress and Murphy was sent to retrieve Sarah and I on the off chance that we could at least distract whoever had the audacity to kidnap Abbygale. Obviously word had also gotten around that it was probably our fault that this had happened to there beloved bird. Oh now that is the spirit, I have got to get Abbygale's last song out of my head it was not helping me mentally. I looked up at Murphy and had the complete opposite reaction, he seemed to look and genuinely be happy with his new body. Especially now with Sarah and I tied to his back he moved at great speed and being able to see over a lot of the trees he could see his quickest path as well.

Before we reached what was a magic Meadow to me yesterday Murphy stopped. Now I do not know how he didi this trick but he hugged both Sarah and I with his neck and then did not move. I looked at Sarah and thought "We came here so fast, I did not have time to hardly think of how to even rescue Abbygale". Once again Sarah took my hand but said out loud "There might only be two of us but we will rescue Abbygale and deal with McCassar later".

"What in the world would make you think that I would let MY daughters fight evil by themselves"? Both of us turned around and saw not only Grey but Tiger's whole and then I noticed birds in every tree. "Abbygale is important to everyone here and if needed more will follow, but you two do have to be brave and go in alone at first". I looked at him and said "Don't worry Grey, I did not come all this way to have it spoiled by Old Witch McCassar. She is no longer my family and you, Sarah and everyone I have met in the Forest are my new family". Then Sarah and I reached out our hands and started on our new journey. Behind us you could hear the low muffling of encouragement from both man and beast and that seem to make both of us walk a little straighter. We squeezed each others hand and waved over our heads to those backing us up. "We are not this brave" I thought and then Sarah whispered "I know but have faith that our parents knew what they were doing when they first tried to get us away from McCassar".

As we got near the Meadow I thought "Maybe we shouldn't be holding hands when we walk in. Others have already seen that our magic is more powerful when we hold hands. Then when she scares us we can jump together and hold hands but walking in that way could hurt Abbygale and we do not want that". Once again Sarah nodded in agreement as I pulled the branch back to reveal the once beautiful Meadow. With McCassar standing right by Abbygale's tree, the luscious grasses turning browner where she stood. There seemed to be some kind of creature I had never seen before and I could not tell you if it were male or female for it seemed to be made of everything that had rotted in the Forest. The only thing worse than what this creature looked like was the stench that was emanating from its body. It was holding a very long vine and at the end of the vine was Abbygale.

"Okay Sarah let us both find out what this witch wants from us" and then I pulled the branch back further. There seemed to be more creatures hiding in the shadows but if they were with my old Aunt that is where they should stay. I was feeling very brave all of the sudden and had no idea why, when I glanced at Sarah she too had a determined look on her face. I knew then and there that we were no longer the girls who started out on this trip, McCassar had changed everything and not all of that was bad.

"Okay you two Urchins get away from each other, I am not going to have you close enough to hold hands. My Minions have told me what you two have been up to, fixing the forest so those clods leading you to the Gala did not ruin everyone's home". She looked at me and said "Albie where did I go wrong with you"? she was using the old familiar voice I was use to. It was the same voice that put me to bed right after my mother had died and now sent shivers up my back. "Albie you have known that I have always loved you and your mother. It is Grey that has been poisoning you against me. Have I ever hurt you in any way"? After she had said those last words I could smell those Lilacs my mother loved so dearly and it seemed to help me get my courage up.

"What do you want from us? Mom always treated you like you were not only the best Aunt but also my Best Friend". I said. "Oh that" said McCassar "I simply threatened her my dear, that if she were to try anymore tricks that I would let more than those helping me just what you and your sister are. That shut her up til the day she died. Now get away from Sarah I do not need you two holding hands and spoiling my plans".  I moved away from Sarah and closer to the tree where Abbygale was. I was also remembering what Grey had said and did not even look Abbygales way. McCassar did not know I could see Albie, I also had to remember something else but it seemed like time was running out. I was concentrating so hard that I almost did not hear the song Abbygale was singing. As I listened closer it was almost like she was sending a message to me. Unfortunately McCassar must have noticed the look on my face because she told the thing holding the leash to pull on it and the song stopped but not before I got the message.

I thought really hard "Sarah we are in a magical Meadow, we do not have to hold hands in order to work our magic here. I swear it was the last thing Abbygale sang to me before that thing choked her. "Okay Auntie what do you want from Sarah and I? How can we help you so you do not hurt a bird that can sing such a lovely song". I was really hoping saying that I only heard it would help us out. "Albie are you really telling me that you cannot see the bird you are almost standing right next too"? McCassar said and I jumped and looked around. I looked at the ground and the creature holding onto the vine and followed it up the tree never meeting the bird in the eyes and said. "The only thing I see is an ugly thing holding onto a vine tied to a tree" I then thought really hard that McCassar should believe me because I have never lied to her before and did not know if she would be able to tell. "That ugly thing is my Mudsap and I think that should explain how he was made". As my old Aunt was talking I notice some movement under a bush only to realize that it was Maali. I did not know whether to be happy or or say something but I kept my mouth shut for now.

"Sarah I thought as hard as I could, do not look but Maali is under a bush by me. I have also come up with another idea but we have to distract McCassar for just a few minutes". In a booming voice I heard Sarah say "So your my Aunt as well? Is there nothing you would like to ask me after all it looks like you want us to stick around for a while or why we would even be here"? The look on the old Aunt's face was priceless, I do not think she expected this kind of bravado coming from Sarah. Actually she probably did not expect it from anyone considering our circumstances. So as she turned to Sarah I looked at Mudsap and thought of ways to get rid of him without holding onto Sarah. "Listen here you brat, I had plans for you two before you were even born. I have been waiting for twins to be born into my family for years. When the time finally came is when I let my guard down and your parents caught on. Now however is the perfect time to get to you two before you become too powerful". I don't know why but the vine was pulled again on Abbygale, maybe as a reminder as to why we were even here. I did my best not to look directly at the bird because I knew it would show on my face.

"Okay we will go with you but you release Abbygale first and we make sure that she has her song back before we leave". I thought that was a fare deal until McCassar said "My dear Albie I know you have not been out in the Forest for long but Abbygale is very important and once the noose is loosened around her neck I know she will sing to all. After what I have done to get you girls her song will travel far and wide and those like you who love this bird would kill me just for what I have done to her Meadow. Imagine what they would do if they found me with you two as well. No Mudsap will hold onto the noose, if anyone comes close to him before we get away the noose tightens and Abbygale could die". I could not even think with this news, how were we going to save Abbygale and get McCassar at the same time. It looked like we could only do one thing and that would be leave with McCassar. Just as I was about to agree, I had a bird whisper in my ear "Trust in yourself and you can accomplish anything" and then I smelled Lilacs. All of the sudden I was smiling and McCassar noticed of course.

"Girl I always knew you were a bit weird, but why in the world would you be smiling right now? I am going to kill that bird you seem to like so much, Mudsap pull on that vine". Mudsap did as he was told of course and I could hear the the strangle cries coming from poor Abbygale. I knew I had to stand my ground and I looked at my old Aunt and said. "Lilacs, I have been smelling them ever since I came in this Meadow. Yet I do not see one Lilac Bush anywhere, so you can see why I would think of my Mother. After all those bouquets we picked over the years. I would think even you would remember something like that". And that is when it came to me all the times McCassar would have me talk to ailing plants or the Lilac Bushes that never seem to run out of fresh flowers to cut. I bet that was one of my magical abilities, to make things grow. I knew I had not been paying attention when McCassar was yelling at me to start walking. She seemed even more upset now that I mentioned the Lilacs than she did before, but this seemed more like she was afraid of something than her plan. I looked helplessly at Sarah. I had no idea how I was going to communicate this to her or if I should just try some magic alone.

Sarah and Albie Take a Trip cont(Continuing "Sarah and Albie Take a Trip")

"Okay Sarah put your arms behind your back I am going to tie them up with the same vine that we are binding Abbygale with. It might burn a little but that is because it saps away your magic. Get it Albie, while Mudsap holds onto that vine he is taking the magic out of that bird to keep himself alive. So you just stay in place while I get Sarah settled first or I will have the vine tightened".
This was not good not only was I not going to be able to help Abbygale but Sarah was lost to me as well. Then I saw something fluttering in the tree above me and I also noticed that the branch had been pulled back a little bit as well. With McCassar moving Sarah and I around she had completely left that are alone. I was starting to feel more hope and with that came the smell again of those lovely flowers.
I decided it was time for me to take some kind of action, for some reason I just knew I had to get McCassar off guard somehow. "Hey Aunti
